Living and cycling around Germany provides you with opportunities to meet people from all over the world. One part of the world that really stands out is Africa.  Being an African American starts to take on a completely different meaning because I begin to wonder which part of Africa I am from.  I have over the years wondered what part of Africa I came from.  At my advanced age, I am beginning to realize that I don`t really know much about the world that I live in. It`s ironic, really, because I have lived all over the world.  Anyway Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most populous continent after Asia. At about 30.3 million km2 (11.7 million square miles) including adjacent islands, it covers around 20% of Earth's land area and 6% of its total surface area. With nearly 1.4 billion people as of 2021, it accounts for about 18% of the world's human population. Africa's population is the youngest among all the continents;the median age in 2012 was 19.7, when the worldwide median age was 30.4.​
